The Best Web 2.0 Tools & Apps for Teachers, July 16-18, 2012

Join Richard Byrne of Free Technology for Teachers (http://www.freetech4teachers.com), and EdTechTeacher Co-Director and author Tom Daccord, as they present their favorite Web 2.0 sites and apps and show you how to leverage them to transform learning – your students' and your own. The intuitive, free, and interactive Web 2.0 tools featured in this session allow educators to create online connections that support both classroom instruction and professional growth. Participants will gain hands-on experience using Google Docs, Animoto, Glogster, Diigo, Socrative, Aviary, LiveBinders, Audioboo, Quizlet, Creaza, and other Web 2.0 tools. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore productivity and educational handheld apps, such as Evernote, ShowMe, Educreations, iMovie, Dropbox, Flipboard, Google Earth, and many others. We will also glimpse into the future of animated and socially connected digital textbooks and augmented reality apps.

Participants will learn ways in which these Web 2.0 tools and apps can be successfully integrated into the classroom using laptops, wireless tablets, iPads, iPhones (or other cell phones), and iPods (or other mp3 players). Throughout the workshop, we will look at how specific Web 2.0 tools can help teachers exploit the creative possibilities of Internet-connected handheld devices. All in all, participants will learn to create meaningful, engaging, and authentic activities that meet the needs of today's students.

From Our Participants

This was a fantastic workshop. Tom and Justin are so knowledgeable and were so patient and helpful to the participants.
– Joseph Fioravanti, La Salle Academy, RI

This is what professional development should be all about. There are soooooo many things to take away from this that I can actually use in my classroom, almost right away. Great suggestions, great examples. I would absolutely recommend this, and almost want to force my colleagues to take this.
– Dan Boyle, Triton Regional High School, MA

The most hands-on, practical, and cutting-edge workshop I have ever attended.
– Carlo Palusci, Zurich International School, Switzerland
